The chapel contains a precious late Gothic carved altar from the Galilee monastery, where it had stood for three hundred years until the monastery was dissolved; after the monastery was dissolved, it was found again by chance, painstakingly restored and placed in the Michaelskapelle.

A beautiful footpath leads from the chapel to the Wasserschloß Laer with beautiful views of Meschede.

Directions

The Michaelskapelle cannot be reached directly by bus or train. The nearest bus stop is "Meschede, Steinstraße" from here it is about 800 m uphill on foot (up the Kreuzweg, Klausenweg road) to the Klausenkapelle.
